KidsBooked on the Road

January 2026

We’re big believers in the power of connection and community. We sure do love living in the Triangle, and we want KidsBooked to be a force for good in making our area even better for parents and families.

We laid out our philosophy on this last year in our blog This Place Is for You, and it still rings true. Camps are about so much more than childcare, and a camp-planning platform is about more than just getting your to-do’s done faster. We hope KidsBooked can help to build a stronger community here in the Triangle.

As part of this mission, the KidsBooked team is out and about! Here are two fun places you’ll catch us this month.

Kids Exchange

We’re THRILLED to have a booth at the Kids Exchange Consignment Sale! If you don’t know it already, KX Consignment is THE place to get discount kid gear for families in the Triangle. Strollers, baby swings, and bikes as far as the eye can see. Racks and racks of kid clothes, from itty-bitty baby booties to a like-new set of school clothes for your 5th-grader to tear up at recess. The sheer volume of stuff is truly a sight to behold.

Since it’s consignment, everything costs a fraction of what you’d pay in stores. Even better, you’re supporting a more circular economy, so all that kid gear gets to live out its full lifespan instead of winding up in a landfill after just one use. Whether you’re buying, selling, or both, coming to Kids Exchange is a smart way to stretch your hard-earned cash and keep up with your kids’ ever-changing needs.

Our booth will be right by the checkout line. We’ll be conducting customer interviews on site to help us serve Triangle parents even better. So come and chat with us, or drop us a line anytime. We’d love to hear your feedback.

Krispy Kreme Challenge

It is a matter of North Carolina pride that the first Krispy Kreme doughnut shop opened in our state in 1937. While the location on Person Street in Raleigh isn’t the original, it’s been there long enough that it comes by its retro look honestly, earning a special place in the hearts of generations of Raleigh natives.

For true aficionados, the pinnacle of Krispy Kreme love is the Krispy Kreme Challenge. The challenge is simple: 2400 calories, 12 doughnuts, 5 miles, 1 hour. Runners start at the Memorial Belltower at NC State University, run 2.5 miles to the Person St. Krispy Kreme, wolf down a dozen doughnuts, and run back to the belltower—all in an hour or less. Dreamed up over two decades ago by some NCSU undergrads, the event has become a beloved Raleigh tradition and the largest unrestricted donor to UNC Children’s Hospital, raising over $2.2 million for the hospital to date.

It will be early. It will be cold. It will be uncomfortable in multiple ways. But when our teenagers said, “Yeah, let’s do it!” we knew we just had to be there. Give a shout if you spot a KidsBooked shirt running by in the crowd! Better yet, join us in the race.
