Cheerio on the New River

by YMCA Camp Cheerio
Ages 7–15

Set along a mile-long stretch of the New River in the mountains of Virginia, Cheerio on the New River offers a one-of-a-kind adventure camp experience grounded in Christian values. With 150 acres of forest, trails, and waterfront, campers spend their days immersed in the outdoors, building skills, friendships, and confidence through hands-on challenges and group experiences. Campers choose from a wide range of land and water activities including kayaking, canoeing, fly fishing, snorkeling, hiking, mountain biking, archery, hatchet throwing, outdoor cooking, and more. Each day includes a mix of individual choices and cabin time, encouraging both independence and connection. Whether exploring the tree canopy from a unique adventure course, crafting with rope and natural materials, or strumming a tune on guitar by the water’s edge, Cheerio on the New River offers a unique setting for kids to grow in body, mind, and spirit. With a focus on safe exploration and lasting memories, the camp encourages every child to embrace challenge, unplug, and fall in love with the outdoors.
