As the nation’s oldest and largest camp for people with autism, Camp Royall encourages participants’ passions and interests while helping to build confidence, independence, and a willingness to try new things. Owned and operated by the Autism Society of North Carolina, the camp offers overnight summer camp in addition to teen retreats, day camps, weekend retreats, and family programs throughout the year.
Supported by caring counselors who receive professional training on autism, campers build skills and make friends in a loving environment. Families can have peace of mind knowing that their family member is understood for who they are while being closely supervised to ensure their comfort and safety. Participants are grouped by age and level of ability to provide the most suitable activities for each camper. Common camp activities include swimming, boating, hiking, hayrides, field games, music and motion, and arts and crafts.
Campers must be a resident of North Carolina and have a diagnosis on the autism spectrum.
