NCMA Camps

by North Carolina Museum of Art

Camps at the North Carolina Museum of Art give kids the chance to nourish their creativity in a setting unlike any other. With the museum’s world-class galleries and expansive Museum Park as inspiration, campers spend their days surrounded by art indoors and out. Each week blends hands-on artmaking with time exploring the galleries and guided walks through the park’s trails. In the studio, young artists experiment with a wide range of materials—drawing, painting, and sculpting—as they create original works tied to the week’s theme. Projects emphasize self-expression and encourage campers to explore new techniques while developing confidence in their artistic voice. Campers also gain fresh perspectives during instructor-led gallery visits, where they reflect on great works of art and draw connections to their own creations. Weather permitting, outdoor lunches and breaks add to the fun, offering time to recharge, socialize, and enjoy the natural beauty of the park.
