August 2026
This year, most of the school districts around the Triangle have their first teacher workday just a few weeks after the start of school. These days are valuable for teachers’ professional development, and many of them coincide with religious or cultural holidays to allow families to honor important days. But single-day breaks can also wreak havoc on a working parent’s schedule!
Don’t let them sneak up on you. This year, the KidsBooked camp-finder calendar comes pre-loaded with all of YOUR school breaks. Simply select your school or district to load the right calendar, then tap on a teacher workday to find camps near you. Easy-peasy.
Here’s a sampling of schools-out days coming up in September:
- All schools are out for Monday, September 7 (Labor Day).
- Wake County Public Schools (traditional), Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, and Durham Public Schools (traditional) all have teacher workdays on September 21 (Yom Kippur). Durham Public Schools has another one on September 30.
- Many private schools are also out for September 21, including Ravenscroft, Durham Academy, and Eno River Academy. Carolina Friends School has a teacher workday September 18.
On KidsBooked, you can easily find camp sessions across the Triangle for all of those dates—and many others throughout the fall. Whether it’s a day filled with arts, sports, rock climbing, cooking, or running around outdoors, teacher workday camps are essential for kid fun and parent sanity.
Here are a few tips for using custom calendars on KidsBooked:
